On the 100th anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended World War I, Canterbury presents Benjamin Britten’s 20th century masterwork “War Requiem”. The piece combines text from the traditional Latin requiem with the poetry of Wilfred Owens, a young soldier who died in combat one week prior to the armistice signing. Canterbury will collaborate with students from its Canterbury Youth Voices program, choirs from Oklahoma City University, three accomplished soloists and the Oklahoma City Philharmonic.
